Default Upper Tree

Once the round chrome steering stem cap is unscrewed, and I undo the 1.5 inch steering stem nut, will the upper tree just"lift off" (of course the pinch bolts loosened also)? I'm going to replace the integrated riser upper tree from my 2012 with a top from an 06.
Thanks, Jeff

Jeff,

Yes. Below the upper tree there is another nut with a serrated looking outer diameter that will still be holding the lower tree in the neck. I did the same earlier this year, but had the entire front end off.

That serrated nut is how you adjust your 'fall away' of your front tire...make sure you get that set back before riding.
