Default 2000 throttle lock fix

Out for a ride yesterday and the throttle lock had to be more and more tightened because it wouldn't hold the grip tight. at some point it wouldn't hold at all. I don't see a fix on u-tube or in my manual. Any help with this issue please?

The throttle lock works by pressing a small plastic shoe against the throttle control. Sounds like that plastic shoe may become worn or dislodged. It's a real cheap part.

have you upgraded the grips since you last used the throttle lock? Some throttle grips will work but are cut so that the friction shoe will not make good contact and won't hold...I discovered this when I was trying to get mine to work after I bought it...I gave up on it until I upgraded the older Kuryakyn ISO grips awhile later with new Kuryakyn ISO grips. I noticed a subtle difference with the way the cable end of the throttle grips looked. One worked with the friction lock but the other would not and both worked fine otherwise.

could be you don't have it aligned. Back off the lock a few turns. Open the switch cover and make sure the grip fits properly into the bottom of the cover. Put the cover back on and test it.

If that doesn't work your lock foot is probably worn and needs to be replaced. 16 years in service is a lot for a nylon part.
Good luck.
