I saw this throttle lock at a dealer that mounted on the bars between the grip and control module. It was a nice piece of work.
You flipped a switch, mechanical, and that would lock your throttle in place. the cool part is that you can also adjust the throttle without disengaging the lock. It just clicks to the posittion you want it.
I cant remember where i saw this thing, but I have a bum arm and that sure would help me out. I know they sell the 12dollar lever, but why go cheap, nothing else is.
Anyone got an idea what this thing is called. I think they ran about 30000 cents.
Stock throttle lock allows you to move the throttle. Just tighten it only enough to keep the throttle in place but loose enough to adjust up and down. I've used it this way several times.
The stock 'star throttle tension screw' seems to do the same thing...
I use them on all my bikes (well, at least the newer models). Some people probably don't know but the older Harleys didn't even have a throttle return spring. The throttle had to be opened and closed manually, and the throttle stayed in it's set position when you removed your hand.
I use the star throttle tension screw in the same way. It's set with just enough tension that the throttle remains in it's position when you remove your hand, but can still be opened and closed manually.
Like many other things, the throttle return springs was added to Harley's as a safety feature, much the same as the bank angle sensor.
Installed one of these on my FXD. Wonder how I ever rode without it.It took longer to set the tension up than to install it.http://www.cruise-mate.com/.
Chit, I got mine for $11.00. Just go to a swap meet and it's just a little plastic clip that goes over the thumb screw with a lever, and you just push it with your thumb, release it with your finger. Give it a try, its only 11 bucks.
