For me its more for these coming winter months and the extra cold protection, last winter I was on a triumph scrambler with no fairing of any sort and it was rather chilly sometimes.
The gauntlet makes riding much more relaxing and I dont really get a whole lot of wind hitting my head, I usually drop my body behind it when on the highway but this extra height the laminar will give would be very welcome
I'm surprised at the buffeting. While I don't have the gauntlet, I have the cafe, I get zero buffeting. I'm tall, 6'2" so maybe my head is high enough to be out of any turbulence, or maybe I just have it adjusted perfectly for me. But I doubt anything will make these types of fairings push air over your head. Just not big enough. I think the goal is to get the turbulent air below your face. I get very little blast on my chest and my head is in straight on wind. Couldn't be better actually. I expect it's very similar to the gauntlet, as I think the main difference is the gauntlet is wider not taller... Keep at the adjustments and you'll probably find that sweet spot. It took me a dozen try's or so. Remember, you can adjust both the fork mounts AND the fairing mounts for angle...
Take some tools out and a note pad. Make notes on each position so you know what you tried already...
i got the gauntlet installed. Honestly, not much yet in wind protection compared to the windshield. The good news is that the wind doesn't grab the fairing like it did the windshield so the ride is smooth and less twitchy. As far as my head goes, the wind is still very noisy like no windshield at all. Part of that problem is my helmet straps act like reeds but that's another story.
I ordered the Laminar Lip and that will arrive on Monday. Can't wait to see if that helps with some of the wind. I think they look cool on the gauntlets and the HD 1/4 fairings. I'll post my experience with that.
In the meantime, anybody have any suggestions for a small bag or bags that I can mount inside the gauntlet fairing?
What lip did you order for the gauntlet? The one in the link looks like a replacement shield for the HD fairing. If the gauntlet is like my cafe, it's one piece of molded plastic. No replacing the shield, so no laminar lip?
Ok, looked closer. Not a replacement, but an add on. Curious to see how you make it fit.
I did 150 miles yesterday with just the gauntlet. We did a long stretch straight into a heavy wind and my helmet wanted to lift off my head at 60 mph. The rest of the ride was tolerable including a 30 mile run down the freeway at 75-80 mph.
I received and installed the Laminar Lip today. I did a quick test ride hitting 55mph and it was a major improvement. I did not have my helmet on though and really need to test with the helmet on. Tomorrow, I'm going to paint the inside of the gauntlet including the see through part so only the Laminar Lip will be able to be seen through. I think it will look cool that way.

I'll post pics when finished.
Have you tried adjusting the fairing? Only asking cause my LRS doesn't seem to be able to go under 80 and I never get any lift. The cafe I have should be pretty similar to the gauntlet from the centerline windprotection I would think. But I could be completely wrong too...
