If you can find a lower octane like 91 or do the mad mix like i do it really helps to high of octane makes it run hotter 10 to 15 percent, it is working for me . I try half and half and go form there. good luck
i installed a K&N Air filter kit (similiat to the SE Stage I) V&H BSS and a PCIII and my bike is running super hot. In just a minute of idling she gets ridiculously hot. I was running the map that fuelmoto preprogrammed based on these specs and then I tried the one from the powercommander website but no difference. It's to the point that I think the heat shields on my new V&H are starting to warp. Went to a stealer today and they just gave me a "you should have let us install it speech". Mind you, they have no Dyno and would have loaded the same maps. Any advice?
Any slight changes need a dyno tune !! with 2006 and up motors
my 06 runsw friken hot to @25k miles no damage yet but am gona go with 15w 50 mobil oil.have been using the 20w50 harley dino oil.You know shes hot when on some days like 90s theres smoke that rolls out of da the oil filler hole.also glowing pipes.I just hope it dont start using leaking oil goin to synthetetic never have used synthetic in any vehichels before
I just had mine dyno'd last weekend it was a big improvement but it's still a big air cooled motor and if the air's not cool it's gonna be hot.We did one dyno run with the stock map it made good HP up top but was so hot you could literally feel heat comming off of it 5-6 feet away. After several adjustments and dyno runs we were able get within a few inches of the pipe before we felt heat. What does all this mean? I dunno, but with synthetic oil, dyno tuning, and exhaust wrap and or heat shields you can get these things to run cooler but they'll still cook you thigh on a hot day.You may just have to suck it up and head for a dyno.
If yer bike is runing hot, I'd be worrying about burning a hole in the piston. If yer plugs are white that's not good.
I got a 07 Wg. I took off the stock pipes and put some D&D fatcat's on, got the Se airkit, and went with the Tm with Auto Tune.It has automatic lean tuning. You can set the afr.. idle or check the box to closed loop and ride the bike and let the bike tune itselflike I did.
I got a Indy shop that sells them and would give you a good price.

Sorry but higher octane will make the engine run cooler thats the purpose in the first place, it burns slower thus cooler.
