You just proved my point. I don't care where your gauge is located. You still have to take a split second to glance at it, taking your eyes off the road. If you feel you need to keep your eyes on the road at all times, don't look at some stupid gauge until it's safe to do so.

I think this is an awesome mod. Its one thing I dislike about my FXDLS, having to look down to see my speed and RPM. Cool way to do SOMETHING with that open space behind the fairing. If they made something like this that showed RPM and speed, I would be all over it.

not really a debate thing. If you are cool with looking down. Thats fine.

Yeah that's the issue for me. I almost always ride with a FF and it's a pain to moving my head so far down just to read the speedo. I've gotten more effective at doing that but still - I would much rather be able to see it by just moving my eyes and not my head.

Why do you need a speedometer to tell how fast you're going. Air pressure against your body and visual cues should be enough to determine your speed, you know how fast the engine is turning by your knee being in contact with the air filter housing, you know what gear you're in, the front tire is feeding you information through the bars about speed and traction, your butt is telling you what the chassis is doing and how it's dealing with the road surface.
The whole motorcycle is talking to you, all you need to do is listen. After a week with a new motorcycle you should never have to look at that instrument again. There are much more important things that demand your attention.

From your perspective you may well be correct with all of the above, but a good % of us motorcyclists rely on our Speedometer to tell us how fast we are going.
I would be nowhere near confident to rely on machine feedback on modern bikes,to have no speedo.
When the officer stops me for doing 58 in a 55 & asks me for $180 please, telling him it felt like i was doing 54,is still going to have me parting with my money.

This comes up every once in a while and for me I only look at that thing when I have too. Heads always on a swivel anyways so saying you can't find the time to glance at it never made since to me. Moving it to me seems more out of preference than a necessity. Unless of course you have some kind of ADD or whatever going on.

Hello my friend! How are you? Thanks for your message. Not a lot: 2800 only since july.

For the others, i am very happy to see that i am not the only one to say that it's stupid to fix gauges on the tank like hundred years ago.

thanks to the funny poet who doesn t need any gauge facing the wind like in "easy rider" lol!

I wish to all of you and relative a very happy christmas and cool new year's Eve.
Phil.
