That's what I get for leaving work early. On the way home, I skidded, and hit a deer in the side at about 35 - 40 mph center on my 07 Lowrider.
Headlight is twisted, front fender is creased, dent in the heat shield, and the tripple tree/shocks are twisted. And my leg hurts real bad!
That deer probably got tossed 4 feet in the air and thrown. Yes, it was dead on impact.
F$%^... this was the 1st thing I ever bought brand new.
On a good note: I DID NOT DUMP THE BIKE!!! Please - for those of you living in rural areas with deer - be careful. I am in Sebring FL. I was less than 2 miles away from home. I remember reading a post a while back about deer in Ruidoso NM... And I was like "that will never happen to me." I have been to Ruidoso, and there are plenty of deer! I always thought it was no big deal. Lesson learned!
Nice control not to go down. Sorry about your ride and the "new" thing but I doubt your friends and family can get a "new" you.You can get another "new" bike.
On the way to the Harley shop on Saturday morning I had momma and 3 little ones come across the freeway on me. I was the only one on the road and came to complete stop just short of them. I was moving along around 70 and had I been 15 seconds quicker, it would of been a different story
Yeah, I was doing about 70. I am glad I got the scooter down to35 - 40. Outcome would have been diferent. Practice on the combined braking (front and rear) those of you reading this. Could have saved my life tonight! It was dark... damn deer. It happened at 8:45.
I've heard this story many times... but I personally know of two fellas who've gone through the same thing.
Both he and his passenger were pretty scraped up, but were utlimately OK. Bike totalled... no GAP insurance (bike was less than yr old). He got shafted pretty good on that whole deal.
The other buddy had a busted faring (sp) and some other front-end damage, but kept the bike up. Both he and his wife were spooked pretty badly, but remained unharmed for the most part.
Some damn good drivin' on his part, and yours as well for keeping the bikes rubber side down.
Living in Wisconsin... that's one of my worst fears... smackin' a deer. They're thick up here. I'm glad you're ok. This could have been much worse bro...
We have some deer around here, and that is one of my worst fears!!! I guess a good thing they are lessoning due to development but, you still see the left overs!! Still see alot in the places we like to ride.
Well I think the solution to all you deer problems is for you to let me comeand stay at your house so I can be a part of that deer eradication. I mean they're a public nuisance lol. If you'd buy my hunting licence that would help too maybe pay for gas. Buy some ammo.
Glad you are OK, I do everything I can every deer season to keep the deer off the road. I have seen a lot on the road but have been lucky enough not to have one run out yet.
