I have owned my '07 Super Glide for less than a year. In that time, I have gone thru 3 different sets of headers. <SNIP> Twice, the flange ring welds broke. I'm referring to the steel rings that are on the head end of the headers, that help to retain the flange.<SNIP>.

Hi eLBo,
There are two main styles of Harley header headpipes, one is conical like the factory exhaust, the aftermarket style is just a ring welded on the pipe that the retaining ring rests against. The factory system uses a conical gasket that matches the cone shape at the end of the pipe, the other style of gasket is flat and is used with most but not all of the aftermarket exhaust systems. the two types of gaskets are not necessarily compatible.
Who made the pipes have broken and what style were the headpipes?

Thanks: Mike
It's a 2 into 1 system. Because of my affiliation with the manufacturer, I would rather not disclose the brand. They have replaced the headers twice... To take care of me.

Its hard to help if I dont know the configuration of the headpipes...
Hopefully these will help. Sorry they aren't better pix. The red arrow in the last image shows the only other mounting point, aside from where it mounts at the heads.
How are you installing it? Header first, and tight, then the muffler?
For convenience, I have been connecting the muffler to the header before I mount the system to the bike... But, I have been leaving the muffler clamp loose until the header was all bolted up.

Try getting the header in and tightened first. Make sure it's sitting on the gaskets right, and once it's mounted and tight, work your way down.
