Default Recurring Exhaust Leaks

I have owned my '07 Super Glide for less than a year. In that time, I have gone thru 3 different sets of headers. No matter what I do, within a few weeks of installing a header, the exhaust begins to leak at the flange. Twice, the flange ring welds broke. I'm referring to the steel rings that are on the head end of the headers, that help to retain the flange.

I've had two different HD techs take a look and they believe the motor mounts are still good... And, that the motor isn't moving all that much. The bike only has 10k on it, currently.

Any ideas? I LOVE this bike... But, it's the issues like this that are driving me INSANE!!!

New gaskets and re-torqued bolts?

New gaskets every time... The flange nuts are good and tight.

Sounds like the rear mount is putting stress on where the pipe mounts in the heads. Mount it from the heads back, and shim the rear mount accordingly.

If the rear exhaust mount is a little too high or low, it will put pressure on the flanges and cause exhaust gaskets to blow out.

Are you following the HD Service Manual instructions for your bike? I'm sure someone in the Dyna group can help. Good Luck.

They're the nice, thick crush gaskets.
