RE: bike vibrations possibly figured out, interesting
I did the shim idea as shown in the pics, but I also found that the sides of the mount also had some serious gaps and this is were I made a shim that I talk about at the start of this tread.
To sad that we must figure out this vibration problem while the stealers play it off as nothing. After I did mine, I was amazed at how much the vibrations decreased. Note, there is still the good ole' Harley vibrations there, but now it is managable, nothing like before.
Good luck to any and all who do this and have success with it. I am happy the way mine turned out and hope that maybe I can help some of you.

dlstanf2:
The alignment procedure is to loosen the stabilizer bolts (under the gas tank) and the front/rear mount bolts. You then start the engine and let it run for approx 5 secs. This will align the motor to the mounts. Then you just tighten everything up.
I have not done this vibration (shim) fix yet, so I'm not sure if you need to do anything special like removing the gas tank, rear wheel, etc.. to get at the bolts you need to loosen/tighten.
Others who have can kindly chime in and let us "newbies" know the steps you used!
RE: bike vibrations possibly figured out, interesting
MOST of you are talking about a vibration on decel - I have this on my 07 dyna bob. Is it escessive? It's negligible riding solo, but under load (riding 2 up with my wife) it can be excessive, but when I read that some of you are getting numbed fingers and can't use the mirrors, it confuses me.
Do those of you who get finger numbness and jittery mirror syndrome have this vibration all the time while riding, or just on decel, and if it is just on decel, how many traffic lights are you stopping at in a ride? One every 100 feet? Seriously....
Are we looking at two seperate issues caused by the spacing in the motor mounts, or just one that is so bad, even just on decel it creates numb hands?
RE: bike vibrations possibly figured out, interesting
If we all get together on this issue, bring in others experiencing this and getting "advised" by their dealers that it is "normal" we can petition HD to put out a recall, so we can all get the fix free of charge.
Sounds like it's not limited to just a few unlucky riders.
Sounds like there are varying degrees of it as well, which would certainly support the rubber mount theory - depending on how squashed down your rubber is, that's the degree of vibration you're going to get....anywhere from small to finger-numbing...
RE: bike vibrations possibly figured out, interesting
I have a vibration / buzzing problem on my 07 street bob that starts to occure at 65mph and gets worse the higher i go in speed. I took it to the stealer and they told me that it was being caused by my aftermarket pipes (V&H Big Radius), that the motor mounts are meant for stock pipes. I'm still having them look into it.
RE: bike vibrations possibly figured out, interesting
I think the buzz you're getting has more to do with the tranny than the motor mount. I just read in American Iron that HD is getting a lot of complaints on some of the 06 and 07 six speeds installed on the dyna line. The first and fifth gear sprockets are the old staright style that (especially in 5th) can still be heard to clatter a bit based on their design, while 2, 3 4 and 6 are heleical gears that have a constant mesh, hence no clatter. Are you experiencing this buzz mainly in 5th gear?
