I was amazed by the number of guys claiming that their insurance didn't cover another rider on their bike. So this morning I called my agent and he told me that's nonsense. Don't know what type if cheep Insurance you have, but mine covers any licensed rider. Or bike I ride
In this specific case licensed rider is the key phrase.

I got hit last year and the driver bailed leaving me on the hwy in 5pm traffic on the Cape Fear Memorial Bridge in Wilm, NC. Since the a$$*%e left me there and the cameras only got the car make and model but no license # somehow the detectives told me I was screw... they wouldn't waste anymore time because I wasn't seriously injured (only a little rash and a broken foot). So I pondered it and ended up just fixing it out my own pocket mainly because I didn't want my policy going up next renewal (they tell you it won't but believe me from exp it will, they'll just use the excuse the rates went up even though you have no points). But... I did exactly what your thinking and went slowly through it and rebuilt with everything I wanted. Happier now than I was before.... food for thought.
Do you mean a bottle of spray cleaner? Or the breather?
A. Don't let someone ride your bike that's not licensed and insured.
B. Don't just start it for 15 minutes to maintain the battery, it's not good for your bike.
C. Have a professional check out your ride. It doesn't take much to tweak the frame or swingarm.
D. That sucks, glad your friend is OK. And like you said now you get to customize it to your liking. Good luck!
i meant the breather of course. my mistake. thanks for the good luck wishes buddy!
THIS!!! it happened to my cousin when the so called lifelong friend of his sued him back in the late 80s and got $25k for breaking his own leg even with witnesses stating that he was exceeding the speed limit on my cousins bike.. too fats for the corner and he wrecked it.
if he was test riding it for possible purchase it may help you out with the insurance company..
was he ticketed or is there a possibility he will get a ticket after the investigation??
long story short though he has already received or is about to receive 20 letters from lawyers looking to take his case
holy sh*t thats not a bad idea.... i just wouldn't want the insurance to go after home for damages afterwards... i dont know if they would but you just never know with insurance companies. I'm not 100% if he was ticketed for the accident but i do know there is a police report. he might want to look into the person who cut him off if thats the case with the lawyer letters
Sounds like to me the person who cut him off is at fault. I would be going after them.
i dont think he has any of their info cause the ambulance took him... my best guess is he could probably call the PD and give them the case number and see if he can get the info
After an accident like this, is there a police report that registers the bike as being in an accident and requires an inspection to be able to license it for the road again?
there was a police report... but i didn't need to get the release forms from the police department to get the bike out... i literally just showed them my license and registration and paid to get it out and paid for a tow. so i dont know if they still register the bike for needing an inspection
That's nothing. I wouldn't make a claim for that even if it was covered. A few thou and you can make it even cooler than it was. Every time I rebuilt a bike I was more pleased with it.
Now you get to learn how easy it is to work a bike. If it were me, I would have it back on the road within a day of receiving replacement parts. You can too
It's not so bad dude...
Hopefully there's no accident report. But if there is, so what...
I like the words of encouragement dude! lol it does suck and all but i dont ride in the rain anyways and its been raining like hell so it gives me time to scope out some parts and do the work on my free time from work and the family. there is a police report but i dont see how thats going to stop me from fixing my own bike so like you said "so what"
Dude that sucks.... You really dont have a choice but to hope for the best and fix it yourself. Like others said insurance prolly isnt going to help. An unless your friend is one of kind he prolly will dash too eventually when it starts getting in his pocket unless he is well off and can afford it. That is exactly why i dont let anyone ride my bike. Most will say they will pay if something happens but when it comes down to it you find that most people are not who they say they are. However there are a few out there that still stick to the word. Hopefully your friend is one of those guys. A fractured back isnt no joke. He wont forget this for a while regardless. On a good note hopefully you can find cheap replacement parts and get this behind you. Good luck bud. Never let anyone ride your **** again. Not even family.
