My lowrider s is the only Harley I've ever rode that doesn't have gear whine in first. I think the synthetic helps. Every other Harley I've ever rode has it. It's normal due to the straight cut gears.

I'm running Mobil 1 Racing 4T synthetic in my primary and Redline V-Twin Transmission w/shockproof or Mobil 1 75W-140 gear lube in the transmission but can still pick up the gear whine just a bit; you'll be surprised all the sounds you can hear these bikes making if you ride in good ear plugs blocking the wind noise

Reason: added info...
I'm a bit more over the top with my fluid changes and don't exceed 2500 miles on the engine or primary or 5000 on the transmission. Three different fluids, each hole is a different environment and have different requirements that need to be met
You've mentioned a hum; is it sort of a gear whine? I know, this is hard to describe but if you check out this video you'll hear that gear whine I'm talking about as he's downshifting to a stop. My Wide Glide has a gear whine that sounds exactly the same as in this video.
Maybe it is a normal and common noise on the new models... Pretty nice sounding bike tho!!
Yep, I'm running the same Big Shots Staggered pipes with baffles removed and W158 TTI's installed on my Wide Glide and they do sound very nice. I experimented with 13 different primary fluids and each were a bit different in how they performed; some were decent, some were bad, and some were just awful. I went with the Mobil 1 Racing 4T 10W-40 synthetic; butter smooth shifting, low noise and gear whine, low heat from the primary...
Edited to add: I should have mentioned earlier the piece of the equation keeping the gear whine to a minimum. In the transmission I use either Redline V-Twin Transmission w/shockproof or Mobil 1 75W-140 gear lube. Both are synthetic and both have worked equally well, changed every 5000 miles.
