i don't think thats what he meant. adding stuff like bags and highway pegsto a superglide is normal, makes it easier/more comfortableto use and ride.otherwise youd get a touring bike or a heritage. no comment on the the security system. he meant putting a different tank and console on the superglide to get the speedo off the bars. i really think if you spend the extra cash on the streetbob, custom, lowrider, or wideglideyou'll be happier in the end, just my opinion though. if its a dollar thing, you cant go wrong with a super, great bikes. i personally think the v-rod is comfortable too, set up with bags and stuff. i think it'd be a fine road trip bike.
The Superglide will certainly do the job. As for the V-Rod, ride one before you put down any cash. They have a very different feel and are not the best bike for many people. You may love it, you may hate it, and it would be a shame to find out you don't like it after you bought it.
Like you this is my first harley......I bought it on looks and price.
Past bikes.......superhawk, blackbird, BMW RT1150, Suzuki GSXR 1000 K6, ...........and now the Harley.........more fun than all the rest, different feel.........cant describe it ........it just IS.
How do folks think a Street Bob would compare to a Super Glide. It looks like the main difference is the instruments and the handle bars?
Pretty much the same bikes with some differences being engine color, speedo location, handlebars. Each Dyna is essentially the same as all the others with minor differences (Wide Glide is the most different). I chose the Custom because I dig the tank console with the aircraft style fuel cap. The cool thing is no Dyna you choose will remain "stock" so you can really make any of them do what you want. Case in point, my Super Glide Custom. It looks nothing like it did when it was brand new. In fact my signature picture isn't even up to date as I've recently added 4 inch risers and Progressive 412's.
