i would not buy the base superglide. don't get me wrong. i love these bikes. i haveowned 2 dynasin a row and will likely buy an older model lowrider in the future. the one thing i hated on my superglide was the speedo. really limited a lot of possibilities with bars and looks... especially drag bars. it was sticking out there and it drove me nuts. im not the only one, a lot of people find the speedo of the tank an annoying feature. id buy one of the models with the speedo on the tank, and then start customizing. most people add chrome right off the bat, so the lowrider is a great optionbecause its loaded with chrome, not to mention a historically cool bike. i went the opposite of chrome and bought what is basically a blacked out lowrider, a street bob. i say spend the money on the bike, and less on pricy aftermarket changes. the super glide custom is one of the sharpest bikes i think harley has ever made, big tank, chromed out, and SPOKES! JMO
i got the superglide(defender) and its great.
next spring: VROD.
why not get both and call it even
after all, if you really hate the vrod, i'm sure i could take it off your hands...........
I GOT MY FIRST HARLEY LAST JANUARY. ACTUALLY IT WAS MY FIRST BIKE EVER. I SHOPPED AROUND LIKE 10 DIFFERENT DEALERSHIPS IN THE SO. CAL AREA AND FOUND MY DYNA WIDE GLIDE THAT I FELL IN LOVE WITH. OF COURSE THERE WAS CHEAPER MODELS I FOUND BUT AFTER I PURCHASED IT, I'VE NEVER LOOKED BACK

Please please turn off the all caps . no need to shout. thanks ... That is one thing that drives people crazy on here .
my bad. sorry about that guys. i was at work on midnights last night and getting towards that tired hour i forgot that stuff was clicked on. once again sorry about that
I just bought my first HD on 3/31/07. I got the 07 low rider. I just wish I had more cash. I'd buy a vrod and an ultra classic. Then you've got all your bases covered LOL.
You will always spend more in my opinion, trying to turn one harley into another. I love my wide glide, and am glad i didnt try to start with somthing else. Forward controls, spoke wheels, speedo in tank, raked front end(somthing that would be hard to change on any other dyna) Listen to these guys, and buy what you can customize and make your own, not what you want to make into somthing else.
I've been back and forth with the dealer today. They would give me $5000 for my intereptor and when all is said and done I can get the Dyna with a second seat, highway pegs, security system, and saddlebags for $10170 out the door. I decided to drop the windshield for now. I also am still eyeing that used V-Rod for $12500. Hard to say if this is a good price -- everything seems to be MSRP?
Do you think adding this stuff would turn it form one bike to another?
