I'd like to lower just the back end of my 07 Street Bob. Partly for looks, but also because I'm only 5'6". I've seen some pics here, and love the rake that the 11 inch Progressives give it. I have two questions though. How does the bike handle with only the rear lowered? And will the 11 inch Progressives handle two people plus gear? Total weight will probably be in the 400 pound range.
My 2000 FXDS was lowered 1.5 inches when I bought it. That lowered the center of gravity so handling improved. I did have to get the shock adjuster and bump up the preload on thaback shocks once the wife started riding with me but thats fine now too.
iam very interested in this topic myself. i would like to see some pics of bikes that have been lowered with the 2-up seat on it. to see how it looks. jackyl
I have the 11" 412's on mine, and the Mrs rides several times a week. We haven't had any issues with bottoming or stiffness. The bike handles better and rides better than stock for me, My preload is on 4 with non HD shocks carrying about 280-300lbs
Jackyll-This is the only pic I have with it lowered, Disregard my ugly mug sittin in the way.
Went with the 11 inch HD on an 05 SG. Stiffer than I needed, but did it with an eye to two up riding. Regardless the bike handles great. Feels like it has been tailored for me.
Mine will bottom out with a passenger [total weight 380#] if you hit much of a bump. Tore up my tailight wiring because of it. Lowering is not a good idea if you weigh a lot or ride with passenger. Even though it looks cool the ride suffers a lot also.
