I bent my clutch lever. I bent it out away from the handle bar. Does anyone know if it is possible to take it off and bend it back? or will it break?Would I need heat?
Anybody have any experience with this. It's not really bad, but I can't afford a new one and I don't want to break the one on there now.
You can try to straighten it back the normal shape.....what have you to lose? Since it is a rather brittle casting, you may not have much success. My front brake lever broke off the ball end and I had (well, didn't have to, just did not know any better at the time) go to a dealer.......... $48!!!
I would suggest you get one from J&P if you wind up buying one.
Heat?........No, I would not recommend that as the material is an aluminum alloy and aluminum gives almost no warning before it melts. But then again, what have you to lose..........pg
You can UNbend, IF you do it slowly using a block of wood and piece of pipe. Going VERY slowly, and in very small increments I have managed to unbend my wifes brake lever. Put pipe over lever, backed by 2x4 or similar block of wood. Gently bend back towards the grip.
VERY SMALL increments.
