Went to the dealer today to get a part for my 14 Fat Bob (front master cylinder cap and gasket). I saw a nice looking new 2016 Night Rod there. Took a test ride and was impressed and not so impressed. Tons of power, good looks and it ran smooth as a gravy sandwich. Not so impressed with the small gauges, seating position, I felt like I was being pushed too far forward and pushed against the tank/airbox. The bike was a new 2016 with 25 miles. Listed for 18500.00. The dealer gave me a price of 15300.00. I just couldn't get past the seating position. I'm sure a smaller rider would fit nicely, but not me. I guess I'll be riding my Fat Bob a little longer.
Good decision. Night rods are a pos. Besides power, they handle like crap and also have a horrible stance and seating position. It doesn't do anything well besides a straight line.
That's what I wanted before I bought my first Dyna. Love the appearance, but couldn't get over the seating position, how horribly uncomfortable they are for longer rides, and is it just me or does the horn location make it hard as **** to shift? I had to twist my foot in to hit the shifter and it felt way unnatural. Kinda like a sexy airhead. Looks good, but that's all they do.
gone? Still making them as far as I know... 2017 models listed on the website.
for what it's worth if the night rod was a tad more comfortable especially for 2 up riding, I would trade my dyna for one tomorrow.
Google Vrod production stopped. The entire Vrod line has been discontinued and the factory line where they were made was replaced (we have a user here who works in the KC Plant). 2017 models are made in 2016, production stopped in October last year.
