I too, ordered the way overpriced and probably short lived HD dipstick oil temp gauge. It's a little late to see unmodified temps, but I guess I could cover the Ultracool and disconnect the fans... At least I'll be able to see what difference on oil temps the fans make in addition to the cooler.

However I firmly believe that lowering the head temps will inevitably lower the oil temp. You're literally blowing heat away that would otherwise end up adding to the oil temp.

I've lost all interest in engine cooling after reading this. I have a PVS-7D I've had for many years (use it on my boat when underway at night - logs floating in the Hudson can ruin ones night quick!) and I've been dreaming of a FLIR upgrade. Way too expensive though.

Can't WAIT to hear what you think of it. Monocle? What are you getting? I must know.

FLIR One (for smartphones). Not lab grade by any stretch, but good enough for my purposes.

Disappointed. I had visions of a FLIR scout handheld. Oh well. FLIR one looks cool too though. Tx.

I picked up a FLIR One (on eBay) for my iPhone. Very handy! Photo shows A/C duct in floor and hidden duct in wall. White hot spot is charger plugged in outlet.

I'd prefer to have a nicer one, but I don't make that kind of money. For energy audits, troubleshooting, and general curiosity satisfaction it's good enough.

Yeah, I can't afford the good ones either. But it's actual thermal, so good enough for finding trouble spots... and general curiosity!

Default Still need an oil cooler with Love Jugs?

Hi all,

Since this forum topic, Still need an oil cooler with Love Jugs? has several opposing opinions, let's put all the opinions aside for a moment and rely on a sophisticated laboratory's test. It should bring awareness and facts to the debate. I believe the results of Amzoil's testing will astound you. FYI, Love Jugs did not pay AMZOIL for the testing, nor did we have any input of any kind into the results of AMZOIL's investigation. Facts are facts. Opinions are just that, and can't be relied on for accuracy.

Love Jugs presents to this HD forum's readers, the results of an independent test conducted by AMSOIL, to determine the oil cooling power of Love Jugs, if any. The bottom line result determined that Love Jugs keeps the oil much cooler than any cooling device of any kind – hands down and bar none. Here is the result of their test made at idle, when the V-Twin most needs the air cooling.

Check out the results of the Amsoil oil temperature testing yourself, with and without Love Jugs . www.love-jugs.com

Thanks all, Dave..........

Amsoil; er, snake oil; and Love Jugs, lawyered up thieves. Together? What are the chances? And dredging up an old thread?

Shocked, shocked, I tell you... NOT...
