Can anyone tell me if 25mm thick triple tree (for wide front sportster convercion), made from aircraft aluminum 2024 T3, is safe? The original narrow triple tree was 31,25mm thick and the iron one that I'm using now is 25mm. Thanks.
OK, but isn't the OP talking about Trees?...not tubes
How do you interpret the words he used "25mm triple trees" and all the measurements he's given... 25mm & 31.25mm (="31,25mm"...damn foreigners ) into him talking about tubes?

!!! Holy ****! That makes SO much more sense! For several days, since he first posted, I've been trying to wrap my head around 25mm OD aluminum fork tubes or 25mm wall thickness or 31.25mm wall thickness... I was completely bewildered, but I don't know jack about Sportsters, so I just figured I was uninformed.
Well typically, someone wouldn't state "25mm triple trees" if they weren't referring to tube size...eg. "39mm triple trees", "41mm triple trees", "49mm triple trees", so that can be a bit misleading
Yeah, the think the smallest diameter tubes HD used (at least in somewhat "recent" times) is 35mm tubes and from ~84/85, it's 39mm

2024 is fine in application where 6061-T6 is used.. It has a slightly higher tensile and yield strength. Not as good a corrosion resistance tho.. Using a 25mm tall tree over a 32mm tall one really depends on the design.. You could add say 6mm round the part that grabs the tube radially and have something that is of similar strength as the 32mm tall tree.
