Ive searched the Forum but dont see anything on this. How can I go about checking my motor mounts? Ive got a 2000 FXDS. I notice a vibration while slowing down and downshifting. I looked at them yesterday bit couldnt tell just by that.
I'd like to see some responses as well. People always say to check your motor mounts....but no one ever says how. I know where they are...is it as simple as checking the bolts...how do you know if they're cracked? Is it something you can see...something fairly obvious?
Thanks.
On my 06 FXDWG they changed the front rubber mount. I laid down and looked from beneath it and it looked shreaded right down the middle. I assume that was the seam. You could definately tell it on mine.
On another separate issue. My dad has an 02 FXDWG and his front metal mount broke and let the front of the motor drop enough the shift linkage popped off the ball end. We forced it back on and rode a few weekedns and then it did it again. This time the motor dropped enough it locked the rear brake somehow and pitched him to the pavement. A few scratches but he was OK but scarry nonetheless. This is what caused me to check mine to begin with. Being a new owner I thought the bike was supposed to vibrate like that. Boy was I wrong!
I just posted above with an issue when I downshift and vibration is noticeable I don't think the dumb a$$ tech at the dealership new that.
I would like to see what others have to say Hey StaticSag did the new motor mount fix the problem with your 06

I had a vibration as the rpm's would build. My guy found the bracket on the left side on top of and between the heads would take about a turn and a half. Problem solved.

This is a good place to look. My '07 and a buddy's '05 both needed this link tightened at the 1k service, it might be worth checking at every oil change.
yes...the new mount fixed it but they said they had to re-center the motor in the mounts as well. He explained it as the rubber was already tight which left it no room for vibration causing the mount to tear. That was 4K miles ago and no more problems.
Hi,I don't know how to post links, but on V-Twin Forums, there has been a post about this that goes in depth about a Dyna Vibration. If you search for VIBRATION posted by 84FXRP,you will find it it's worth reading.
