I did the stage 1 upgrade during the first 6 months of owning my '16 FXDB. Went with the Bassani Road Rage 2 Mega Power pipes. Screaming Eagle high flow AC and street tuner. Spent a few $$$ on dyno time to get everything working together.
Love the sound. Reminds me of a 60's muscle car when opened up. Power band has been broadened and thew bike is much more responsive.

You have a stack of options but l've gone for S&S slash cut slip ons, SE race tuner and SE high flow air cleaner on both the Dyna's l've had and been more than happy with the results. The install is really easy to do yourself too if you want.
You can see that there's an array of choices. Whatever gives you wood is the first consideration, then work the details around that. Remember a fuel manager is something you'll need to factor into the budget. The sooner you wrap your head around that, the better your planning will be.
Good example; When I started with my 'sound' mission, I just put slipons on which satisfied my sound requirement. They say it shouldn't change your fuel much but, when I twisted the throttle to pass, the 2800 or so rpm range would make the valves chatter from fuel issues. A fuel manager took care of that and if I would have planned for it, I would have saved a few $ and did everything all at once.
