Hi guys. Ive got a 2012 FXDC with the speedo and digital tach on the tank. Im wanting to get a dual gauge set up to put on top of my T-bars. I really dig the way my bike looks with it. I think I'm gonna replace the tank with an 04+ style FXD tank (center fill with gas gauge below), so I don't have to deal with a giant hole in my dash or a dead gauge. but am wondering 2 things:
1) Tank capacity between the two tanks?
2) Is there a factory dual gauge that will "plug and play" as far as wiring goes? or will I have to de-pin my connector and get some plugs to match the new gauges?
I don't mind soldering, or creating new pins/plugs to make it work, but would like for soldering to be my last option. I can read schematics and run wire and am not afraid to "get dirty" but I want to leave as much of the factory harness wires as intact as possible (hence new pins/plugs.)
we have many happy clients and testimonials... of hai.. guages on bars and the wires you need(sounds like you may already have), dash options, bacon, warp's werewolves.... .
I came across this thread a short while after posting! Definitely and awesome thread and sounds exactly like what I'm looking for! Looks like it'll be a few months of penny pinching, and planning to knock it out. But gorgeous results!!!

IIRC, FXDC tank is 5.1gal... stock FXD lucky if it's 4. Just have to gas up more often.. and of course your tank of choice must be able to fit the fuel pump...etc... or gravity feed to an external fuel pump.

I believe you are correct here... the funny thing is.... .ive NEVER put more than 4.2 gal in my tank. thats running it till the gas light comes on and my DTE says reserve. When the dummy light comes on, I tend to hit the pump right away, and its almost always exactly 3.5 gallons.... So having a 4 gallon tank, may not be as bad as I was thinking. It was a thought that did come to mind though.
I also thought about going ***** OUT and just welding/converting my tank to a centerfill fxd style. Just buy the tank console and fuel covers and all that jazz and having it made... but then I figured I'm getting into the big bucks just for that.
I hesitate because I haven't made it yet (but close, made a blank so far), but if you're interested in a filler for your FXDC dash, I'm going to make something like this, but I also have some other variants in mind...shown on a FXDL dash
