Wanted to get a thread started to track the progress of my bike from brand new(4 miles) to whatever she turns in to. ( Mods-If this type of thread isn't allowed, please delete)
Here she is in all her stock glory. As base as you can get...Vivid black with no upgrades.
I guess I had already taken off the rear reflectors at that point. ( I had to do something)
During my test ride I loved the bike. The looks, the feel...but one thing was off to me. It didn't Sound like a Harley. After browsing here a bit and talking to a few friends I ordered some V&H Short Shots to fix that problem.
Upcoming:
-I plan on keeping the mid controls so I ordered up a BK Highway peg crash bar. I really liked the look and functionality of it. Couldn't find a bad review either.
-I had a vision when I got the SB...and it had a lowered rear end. So I've got some Burly Slammers on the way to make that happen. I'm on the shorter side (5'10") so this upgrade should be more that aesthetic.
- Stock clutch/brake handles had two problems. One, they were ugly(IMO) and 2 they were a bit too big for my hands. Got some Kuryakyn Trigger Clutch And Brake Levers in black coming in with the new shocks.
Going through the $50 and under mod thread today at work and I happened upon a nice free one. Camden made a nice thread LINK on using the stock hardware to switch the license plate to vertical....so I went home during lunch and did it...took about 5 minutes.
You're going to ruffle some feathers, saying 5'10" is "on the shorter side." Especially from the true shortys! LOL.
I think the SB just makes me feel shorter. Could be the width and weight of it. No offense meant to anyone... This is my first Dyna and it is such a different feel to me than my old Sportster.
Lowering the rear end is aesthetics...i'm 5'9" and raised mine 1". You'll loose ground clearance and travel. If you don't ride aggressive, nothing to worry about. I really love the look of a slammed bob though, just not functional for me.
