While I'm not sure we can do anything HD on a budget, when I decided to get another bike I wasn't gonna do what I did last time; buy it off the showroom and throw new accessories at it. My last ride was an '07 Bob, which was sold due to circumstances, so I knew I wanted the same thing.
I picked up a '14 Bob with 121 miles on it for $9K (w/2yrs ESP) and it was bone stock. Since then, I've picked up a Deuce rear wheel ($Free), quick detach smoked shield (factory take-off $150), front HD highway peg mounts with pegs (Fleabay $42), Tall backrest with pad and side plates (again Fleabay $130), a 2up seat ($120 from this site), New 5 3/4" x 7 headlight on closeout ($99), and rear pass pegs and mounts (Fleabay again $50). I also found a right side caliper for my dual disc conversion (Fleabay $50).
All of the used items, minimal usage. Kinda like the bike. Anyway, I'm still on the lookout for inexpensive items and just happy to be back in the game.
Good to hear your back on a bike mate. Thats also some good bargains you have found. Post up some pics as you go with the mods, it will give others ideas as to what can be had when budget shopping
I get a lot of parts from eBay. Salvage and take-offs abound. Patience usually rewards. I had one particular part number (out of production) I was looking for and it took over a year to find one but a saved search with notifications on eBay took care of me. I paid retail for NOS, but for a scarce part NIB I didn't complain.
