Default Run/turn/brake - kuryakin vs custom dynamics

Gonna upgrade my '12 Switchback rear lights from stock to the run turn brake setup with red lenses on the turns. Leds will come later. I'm leaning toward the custom dynamics because of the setup options available.
Of course I come here for your learned opinions.

You'll need to switch to LEDs first. Those wiring kits can be made to work with incandescent OR LED's but most don't work with both.
I prefer Custom Dynamics but you then have to get all Custom Dynamics. I did just what you are doing but I have an Electra Glide. I added LED Tour Pak lights from Custom Dynamics. I called them up and said I wanted the Tour Pak lights to run turn signals, brake and running lights. They told me to by their wiring kit to do just that. Then I installed them and the TourPak lights didn't work. I called them up and they told me I also needed to buy their Turn Signal kit for another $200. I said I didn't want to pay that much and asked for a refund. They said no, I should have read all the details on their web site. Hell, I called them in advance asking if everything I was buying would work together! They said "What's the name of the person you were talking to?" I didn't write it down. I had to argue to get my money back. That kinda pissed me off.
In the end I got the wiring kit from HD that turned on the Tour Pak lights to run turn signals, brake and running lights.

I have an older model CD run/turn/brake flashing module with the CD LED brake lights and turn signals on my '01 FXD and we put the basic Kuryakyn unit with the same CD LED lights on my son's '04 FXDLI. When braking, his Kuryakyn module starts with a fast flashing rate which slows to steady and my CD flashes 4 times, equally timed, then steady. Both have equally bright intensity with the CD LEDs.

Both had to have load resistors when we put in LED turn signals in the front and both work exactly the same otherwise so it comes down to cost and what functions you want. He went with the cheaper Kuryakyn unit so he could afford to get the CD brake light and it all works like he wanted.

The newer CD control units have much more function choices than the old model I have. It only has a switch for selecting steady or the four flash-steady functions.

I have the Pancea kit for my brake light with rear turns and LEDs in the front turns. Easy to install and can switch from standard to flash on the brake light and can tell it if you want the amber arrows to flash the turn in the brake light. It gave me the ability to completely remove my rear bullet signals for larger bags. The kit comes with one load equalizer for if you switch the rear or front turn signals, but you have to get another load equalizer if you do both sets of turn signals. They are plug in equalizers though so if you want to keep the incandescent turns and just put on the LED brake light in whatever configuration you want, you can. Just add the load equalizer/s when you convert the turn signals.

I bought Custom Dynamics for my 15 Glide, at the time they didn't have a front and rear kit had to select front(amber) and rear(red) separately also purchased smoke lenses. Here is a link for the front and rear kithttps://www.customdynamics.com/bcm-compliant-bullet-turn-signal-conversion-kit-1156-rear-1157-front-for-harley-davidsonr,

My set-up is a mix of both, like Jay I got the Panacea taillight from a member here in the classifieds. A year later I added Custom Dynamics "Dynamic Ringz" turn signals up front,, then a few months after that added Custom Dynamics to the run/brake/turn to the rear signal stalks,
Tail light and front are both plug-n-play but the rear needed a little custom work to change the HD stock bullet single element socket to the needed double element wiring.
(Custom Dynamics does have a signal element with long extra wires to do just that.)
The Panacea kit comes with an extra plug-in pigtail to add run/turn/brake to the rear any way you want,, the pigtail has ground, run and brake power lines clearly marked.(this pigtail plugs into their taillight)
There's about 50 different ways folks can add rear turn/brake lighting,, original bullet, saddle bag mount, strut mount, fender mount,,,etc

That's a nice feature with the Panacea, I use both the flash and the arrows features.
The kit comes with one load equalizer for if you switch the rear or front turn signals, but you have to get another load equalizer if you do both sets of turn signals.
I never had to get the extra load equalizer when I added the rear,, but I did have to reverse the power/ground wires for the left side signal to work.

An added feature is you can actually surf/read and understand Kuryakyns web site! While I am happy with the Custom Dynamics light elements,, it takes a long time to decipher their on-line array of lighting options.

Kury has always worked well for me. I tried a custom dynamics tail light. Very bright. The tail light stopped working after 1 1/2 years though & the plastic lens they use is the cheapest, thinest plastic of any of the 5 tail lights I have on my shelf. They crack very easy. I will never get another. I can buy 5 or 6 cheap ones for the price of one of theirs and the plastic is good.

Not the answer to the question, but I use the Harley kit it is basically a 2 minute job to install, and works damn good.

I used the Harley P/N 69463-06B conversion, plug and play easy install. I used industrial velcro and attached the module to the frame backbone after removing the battery box.
