ECM swap?
Hello everyone. I need info on swapping out my ECM which is bad, weather seal failed and well corrosion got in its shot.. I have a 2013 Street bob 96 CI motor no Fob/alarm system.. So my 1st question is: Can I swap a used ECM (same part #) off a similar bike and it run fine? Even though the ECM will have wrong VIN and Miles for the bike which I think shouldn't matter anyways. Now I've read that ppl have swapped ECM from one bike to another with no issues which is why I ask.. My 2nd question is: if i buy a used ECM (same part# as mine) from a bike 1 yr older or newer but it had a 103CI motor and or a security system. Would I need it reprogrammed to my bike and is that even a option to have a used ECM take off reprogrammed for my bike. 3rd: Should I just bite the bullet and buy a new blank replacement around 300 and have harley program it for about 150 bucks. Used ECM is around $190. Hope this made sense, thanks for your assistance.

I would go to ebay an look for a ecm for the same year or year newer for your 2013 Street Bob. Do the password learn an the bike will accept the used ecm. VIN # in the ecm will be different an bike does not care. Just follow the password learn to the T an it will work. Done this on four different bike an worked every time.

Does bike model matter, say any dyna with the same model ECM or has to be off a street bob? Also will the motor size of the bike I buy the ECM off matter? I see a 2012 and a 2014 but both have a 103 to my 96.
