Default FXDLS or FXDL

Whats everyone opinion, i really like the S but being its 4500 more then the 16 low rider. I talked them down to 17k OTD on the 17 S. Who has had both and would you make the decision again going from a regular low rider to a S.

Are you dead set on either one and no other bikes?

I may have the same decision to make and will end up renting a FXDL (maybe a Bob too) for a day or so each as the dealer test rides are nice, but not long enough. You could try that too if it's a really hard decision, though too bad the same can't be same w/ an S.

Moved from a fat bob to an s ... no contest it's worth it. The hardest part was giving up on the extras i'd already invested.

You can't find a 2016 LRS holdover or used? Dealership here has 3 used and one new hold over. Most Harley dealers can but from others if they don't have it local. The 16s used I've seen down as low as $15k

My wife has a 2014 fxdl, and I bought the fxdls for me. No comparison. S model all the way. 110 motor, abs, cruise. Done.

You can get a 2017 LRS for 17K? That's a steal.

Actually, I went the other way...

The LR-S was in the running for me...what swayed me in the end was looks (hate the bobbed rear fender - more money to fix that, all black - not a bad thing just not for me, baby turd wheels, etc).

I've done just fine without ABS, the throttle lock works just fine for me, and maybe it's just me but as far as the butt-dyno, I really didn't notice too much of a difference from the 103HO and the 110. Granted I was coming off a bone-stock 88ci so there's that...

...and that blue...not saying black doesn't look great on a dyna, but the minute I saw that blue I was in love...

Ride both, weigh pros and cons - looks, feel, features, etc...I have absolutely no regrets buying the LR over the S and would do it again in a heartbeat.

Buy a 16. Why buy a 17 or 18.

I was the exact same way, The only advantage I would give it is the 110 has greater potential than the 103

2 Decision points:
Aesthetics, if you want all black go the S if you want chrome go the non S

Motor, Something bigger out of the box or build something bigger with the savings.

Personally I'd rather go a non S and build the motor to my specs than be limited to a HD 117 (or whatever other snake oil the dealers are pedalling)

Also a minor thing but I've ridden big miles on one of the shorter fenders like on the 'S' and on full fender dynas. I'll take the full fender any day of the week (Not an issue for fair weather riders)
