Grooved dust cover
Dealer installed part 46889-06 kit, dust cover, grooved. Within 100 miles, I noticed my upper fork sliders getting scratched. Looked at the cover, and it wasn't on straight! There's only 1 allen bolt that when you screw it in, it'll **** the cover to one side and the cover touches the slider. Mechanically, with only one allen to screw, there's no way it can remain straight.
I bought the bike 4 1/2 hrs away from where I live. I contacted my local dealer, he looked at it and said #%$&@. In other words, he agreed with me. He said unfortunately, I'll have to go back to the dealer I bought the bike from. I said BS to that---it's a HD part and it's 'registered' on their site. So right now, my local dealer is contacting HD to see if he can fix it. The fix...new upper sliders, oil seal ring, etc. I also told them I want the original covers on. We'll see what happens.
I have a bad belt 'squeel' (sp). Took it to the dealership to make sure everything is aligned. After checking it, they said it was normal belt noise.....I don't think so. I checked the belt tension with the tool for that and it was loose, so I turned the axle adj. in to tighten it. Will find out tomorrow.
I posted about some air cleaner mods to go with my ordered fuelpak and HS V&H slipons. Thanks for all the responses everyone. Seems like if I go with just a K&N, I'll get popping (lean) on decel, so I thing I'm going to spring for a S/E setup. Does that come with a K&N filter.
