You're one of the few people who haven't had a totally positive review of the bike. I'm really interested in what your thoughts on it are compared with other bikes in the Dyna family
it's not that i'm not being positive, just being neutral. folks are waxing poetic about the lr-s and it is one of the best hd's to appear in a while but, there are other options worth a look. there's no best, there's best for you. that's why i'm saying try them all.

automatic compression release. Relieves compression to help the bike start easier.
If you're gonna spend a lot of time and money modding anyway, I don't see the benefit of buying the higher trim level "S" model. Buy a gently used Low Rider and spend the balance of the savings on your mods. $2500 in Ohlins or Works suspension and you'll be handling better than the LRS. Another $500 for engine stabilizers. Some good tires and brake pads...
I'll say the S offers a package deal, with the ABS, Cruise, dual disc from the get-go, my favorite thing about them is the Cruise Control. I think some people live where they don't get many good opportunities to use them but out west here I would find one most comfortable.
Cruise and the mag/dual brakes, that's what they have for me anyways, yeah, they could benefit from some Ohlins in the rear for sure.
And like you say, the list goes on and on and on and...
I realize that there's a lot of hype for this s series lowrider but I still think it cheaper in the long run as far as mods to buy this platform. I'm still shopping though, gotta hop on some more bikes.
That sir, would be the understatement of the day Your Wide Glide and your Sportster are beasts...
raggedy old junk, lol

that's the spirit. play the field before you commit. no harm in testing them. you may come back to the lr-s and haggle a 117 deal with the dealer. the x-diavel S is worth a look too. might hurt $$ though..
... ok... honesty hour.. i know you had adjustable air suspension. If you were riding it low like it is in the picture complaning about the ability to turn was on your style choices, not the sportster itself.
My sportster outhandles my dyna (or any i test rode) any day of the week. Anyone using most recent crop of sportys other than the R or 16+ roadster as a measure of sporty vs dyna handling is mistaken. All the slammed suspension stupidity made for horrible stock performance.
the lrs is not the last word in overall performance or a panacea of dyna issues , please dont buy the hype. People are happy and that's cool but, let's not take it too far.
I could raise the bike to approx stock ride height (so 12 inches eye to eye)
Still could scrape the pipes, you are correct it was form over function and I am accountable for that decision.
I am quite fortunate I get to ride every model the MoCo makes, IMHO the FXDLS is the pick of the bikes as far as handling for a stock motorcycle. Yes you can make a sporty run rings around it any day of the week that's for sure. The Roadster is very capable but I found the usual sporty twitchiness when the speed increases.
You have to realise I am a sporty lover too Cvaria, I will always have a soft spot for those little bastards. Demolishing big twin owners from the lights never got old
I too came from a sporty to the LRS. LRS has better ground clearance. Now I do still scrape and have gone through one set of foot wear pegs in the year Ive had it but nothing else has scraped yet. You can really dig this thing into the corners for sure. Have been seriously thinking about doing the BK inch raise to the back and doing a track day. Better tires of course. I wouldn't trust the stock ones on the track. I test rode every Dyna before settling on the LRS. Like was said before test ride first.
