If you want it to really perform like a sport bike, you need taller suspension than the LRS or LR come with stock.

Honestly, if you want the best stock Harley from the dealer go test a Street Rod. As you can see from my signature, I also own a Yamaha FZ-07 for mountain play. My Dyna (heavily modded) gets left by my FZ in the twisties, but the Street Rod can keep up for a while.

I've ridden a Street Rod. While not perfect, it's a much better sport platform.

Id still chose my Dyna overall though if I had to have one bike.

Cruise and the mag/dual brakes, that's what they have for me anyways, yeah, they could benefit from some Ohlins in the rear for sure.
And like you say, the list goes on and on and on and...
That's my thinking as well.

I'm very close to pulling the trigger on an S, but I'll be putting Ohlins on it along with some other goodies. I really like having a cruise control and the dual disk brakes are a must for me.

None of those tall T-bars for me, though. I briefly had them on my old Fat Bob and, while they looked cool, they just made the whole bike worse in every way.

After youve ridden it more then 30 minutes and your back aches, youll see why guys do T bars. The stockers have you lean way too much. 14 inch rise on mine is perfect. And zero issues scrubbing the sides thru the twisties.

Yup im 5'11 and i can't stand the stock bars. Going to order some 10" riser/bars soon. No joke after 15 min my lower back starts to hurt.

I know it is all individual ergonomics, but my stock bars on my LRS, or the Fatbob before it, never bother(ed) me. I am hesitant to go taller because the mini-apes I had on a previous Streetbob made me feel like a sail.

Ok so I got a chance to ride the LRS twice since I last posted along with some street bobs, which Iv riden before. Damn, it's a really smooth ride and it was awesome having that blowback torque. I still like the idea of buy this platform and saving a ton of money on parts that I'd throw on a FXDB anyway. Now my dilemma is my sporty...I love this damn thing to death, it's a great city ride. Cutting between traffic and parking in SF is a breeze on it but, on the freeway I feel a little I comfortable pushing the motor in the 65 and up range. I feel more like I'm a bullet flying down the road rather than riding a bike that is comfortably cruising while still having the power to get me out of a sticky situation quickly. It would also suck taking my sport on a road trip or even just a weekend trip, the LRS I feel would be no trouble on that front. SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME RATIONALIZE! I keep going back to " but I love my sport"

I was in the same position as you, poured a lot of time/effort/blood/sweat/tears into my sporty and had grown a great fondness for it.

I did a trade in on mine as the dealership had seen the bike in Magazines here and obviously thought they could sell it for a good price. The price they gave me is what I was after in a private sale so was a no brainer.

I missed the sporty for about a total of 15 seconds after cracking the throttle on that 110ci engine. Half the fun of a new bike is starting the modification journey all over again.

I don't ride highways much, but it's so much better at 100kph and up. (60mph) you could put cruise control on and take your hands off the bars if you were stupid enough and the bike will just track like an arrow.

I'm impressed with the brakes and suspension for a stock bike, There is no reason to change that straight away in my opinion. 13 inch rear shocks would have been nice, the front can dive under hard breaking too.

Seat/Bars/Pegs is such an individual thing, get the ergonomics right and it will make the ride much more enjoyable.

A simple exhaust and a good tune will have you smiling for a while. I am starting to look into upping the compression and going to a higher RPM based cam as the 255 cam whilst having great low down torque does fall on it's face rather quickly, doesn't suit the ethos of the LRS as a sports orientated Harley.

I don't think you will regret getting one. You only live once
