Changing bearing, Baker or otherwise is a temporary fix. Changing trans case(34747-06C) and inner primary housing (60790-06C) to doweled versions is permanent fix. H-D replaced bearing for first and second failures. They changed to the doweled cases for third failure in 2011 and been fine since.

Can you please explain that?
I have an 07 Ultra......just replaced the stock IPB with baker unit......the race walked in and was a PIA to get out......what part is the doweled case? The inner case...or the outer?
And how would that change the way the bearing works....or fails?

I think he meant HIS third IPB failure, which took place on HIS bike in 2011. That's when HD replaced his trans case and inner cover.

What's the best way to get the old bearing out of the primary cover?

I used a press.

Just be careful about putting too much pressure on the case......it doesn't like too much pressure........support it underneath.

Remove the seal and snap ring, find a socket to tap out the bearing, clean/degrease, put the primary cover in the oven at 200 degrees for about twenty minutes, tap out the bearing. Do the same to install the bearing.
