Default Thunder headers

I love my Thunder Headers, but I think I'm going to have to ditch them. Every 1,000 miles or less I have to pull them off and weld the joint where they come together. They crack there. On top of that, they are impossible to keep sealed at the exhaust flange. I have lost flange nuts, broken studs, and just general hassle keeping the headers attached to the engine.

Is this just me or does everyone have this kinda trouble with these pipes?

Another vote for Red Thunder. Not that I have experience with them but I want to see a solid review.

That's because they all drive on the wrong side of the freakin' road!

Those look great. I was thinking that most of the problems I'm having with the Thunderheader is due to the 2 into 1. It just seems that the 2 to 1 design will always cause stress as the exhaust heats and cools, eventually causing cracks.

Has anyone got a lot of miles on a 2to 1 without issues?

If it is cracking and loosening all of the time than you did not install it correctly. I can see the cracking after a long time but if it is loosening you don't have it in a neutral position before you tighten it to the clamp. In other words I am saying that the user is causing this. You also use towered exhaust gaskets with a thunderheader

I bought this one used, with about 20,000 miles on it.
I have put about 15,000 miles on it since then.....No problems at all.
The one on my '89 FXR had 100,000 miles on it when I sold the bike.
Care in installation is crucial with a T/Header.
