I would like to up the hp on my 07 superglide in the near future and I am looking for experienced replies as to what it takes to reach 100 hp, or close to it. I will do all the work myself on a stage 1 bike and would like for it to be as bulletproof as possible. Anyone can jack up power on something, I want it to be reliable. TIA.
Are you just looking for numbers? Why are you looking for more power? Lots of factors play into building your bike. Build it right the first time do your research and spend the money up front or you will be doing it over again. Are you looking for for just a cam swap with pipes and an air cleaner or go the big bore route.
103 big bore kit, TW-555 cams, good intake, 2-1 pipes and a good dyno tune. .. nothing radical... good power ~100hp/107tq.
I had this exact setup and only managed 89hp/98tq. The key was I never had a good dyno tune. Just a canned map that wasn't right for the build.
I'd suggest skipping the 103" and do a 107" or 110"--Not just for the extra cubes, but for the extra compression.
Whatever you do, find a reputable tuner in your area to finish it off.
Beyond that, just depends on how much you want to spend and what your goals are. Cylinder heads are the key to big power.
If you're really concerned about reliability, and you plan on riding it hard, look into having Darkhorse go through your crankshaft and cases. Not cheap, but money well spent.

Compression comes from the combustion chamber size not cubic inch. Stock style flat top pistons in a 107 or 110 are going to be the same compression. Dropping head gasket height as well as getting a domed piston will give you more compression. Compression needed will be determined by which cam you decide to run. Some cams are meant for a higher compression build some are meant for less. All depends on what your looking for.
Have to consider automatic compression release or ez-start cams
The SE stage4 race kit is still pretty good value as a bolt on you can do at home and get you into 110hp/110tq, pick it up on sale, the kit hits from 3000rpm up
