I quit going in to the dealerships because I got tired of the games. I finally just started emailing them asking if they would do 16k otd for a 17 fxdls. Best price I got was 16,750 OTD so I just went with that

Not sure if anyone has mentioned it, but call around.

I got my deal from just checking the dealers around me and bringing up their offers to each other. They went to beat the other dealer, through more on top. I came out very happy.

And I second selling your old bike separately. You'll get about half of what you could if you sold it on your own. I traded mine in, took a hit, but I was extremely not in the mood to try to sell it and didn't have the room. To me, it was worth loosing the money not to have to deal with it, least that time.

dude throw that sporty on craigslist or like 3-4 grand or more. just lowball the other craigslist deals and you'll get more than 1,500. **** for 1,500 I have a buddy that would fly down and buy it I bet lol.
Hey thanks for the advice! Do you think I'd be able to talk them into installing some different bars? Or is that unrealistic?

I got dealer credit when I bought mine, more than enough to buy bars and have them installed and a few other things. Use it as a bargain chip.

Though I would try out the bars, and the whole bike for that matter, before swapping out parts. Bars can effect how everything handles, should at least know what it was like from the factory before being changed as a point of reference. Dealer credit will allow you to have time with any changes if you desire. Things can grow on you, like those gold wheels.

And at $21k you could fly out, have a vacation, buy the bike from a dealer much cheaper, ride it back and still come out on top. Mine was $16.5k before tax and I got a couple grand worth of incentives with it, course I bought in December... And this time of year keep an eye on Sturgis dealers. They get a lot of bikes at a great price dumped on them. Waiting a few weeks could save you thousands.

Dealer credit?? The bars were one of the only things I didn't like about the fxdls. Im 6'2 with my boots, the kids were cool I can get used to those but the tiny little bars make me feel squished. Where are you located? Im hearing that in Cali its really hard to talk these guys down

When these guys have no shortages of guys dropping well over 1k for the dealer to install new bars on new bikes, I wouldnt hold my breath. These bikes are just tough to deal on in Cali. I went thru 5 dealers and finally settled on one for 21.5.

Youre not gonna get one less then msrp. Thats just the way it is here. And tax and license, well thats a for sure number. Youll save a few maybe on dealer prep charges. But good luck on much more then a few hundred. They were selling as soon as they hit the floor when I got mine. I think youre in a tougher situation now with rumors of no more LRS for 18. If you want the bike, like I did, youll need to evaluate what its worth to you. Id say if ones available get it. I had 4 sold under me in 2 days when I got mine.
