yea. I don't get why everyone seems to question this....if it were a street bob everyone would think it's ok. One of the reasons I traded my street bob in for the lrs is cause it was similar in appearance, and since I liked the mods on it, I figured I'd put em on the lrs. But then again, I love apes, and hate drag bars. Just my taste I guess

I really didn't like Magnum's ABS manifold, so went this way instead.

That is a "Rick's" "brake T" with 10mm 30' degree banjo fittings made by Russell. It supports both dual-disc and single-disc applications. This is what it looks like plumbed up.

The idea here was to use "universal" AKA: AN3 fittings at all junction points. This would allow for any inexpensive and readily-sourced brake cable of appropriate length to work in the manifold-to-caliper and manifold-to-reservoir lines.

The hardest to source component was a banjo fitting for the brake caliper. I had used Russell fittings everywhere and really liked their finish, but they don't make a 60° banjo fitting. The only 60° fitting I found was also made by Magnum (PN 1704-47). Here's what it looks like. The finish is dull, but you'd be hard-pressed to notice the mismatch. Honestly that silver banjo bolt run though it stands out more. I should hit it with some black paint.

So now I have a very modular brake line setup. I can change bars and only change the upper brake line inexpensively. I can put longer fork tubes on (and I have) and only need change the lower brake line and because there is no manifold block attached to it, it's inexpensive as well. I can easily go dual-disc if I like as well. The downside is that the solution I came up with is more expensive than a pre-packaged Magnum or Burley kit and takes a lot more thought into the build-out. I had to figure out banjo fitting angles that worked well, cable lengths weren't anything I could just go look up at a website. It all required a lot of trial and error, and I have a box of expensive fittings sitting the garage to remind me of it.

i'm waiting on my Magnum order of upper lines +6, lower brake assay, and 2pc clutch +4, also for my low rider S. Putting 12" west coast mx t-bars on. I'd like to see how your magnum install goes, even though you're going 16".

I know it has nothing to do with this thread. I also was not at all impressed with the Magnum Spark Plug Wires. They looked cheap, not at all like the pictures. They were way too stiff. Not flexible at all.

yea it's gonna be a little bit before I can do the install. We just moved into the country and everytime I have a chance to do it, something goes wrong. Most recently we had our sewage pump go and fill the basement with all of our **** and ****. Also, I don't know if my factory wires will be long enough for the install. I've seen threads saying there's plenty of excess wiring, but those are all t bar installs and apes take up a little more wiring. Maybe I'll get lucky, but with my luck (or lack thereof) I highly doubt it.

I probably could have gotten away with using the stock wires when installing the 14" apes, but using longer wires made the install easier.

You dont need a kit though, just use pieces of wire. 12 - 14, maybe 16 gauge I guess.

what did you install them on though, was it a lrs? When I put the same bars on my Fxdb, I had plenty of wiring, but the bob came with factory mini apes. As far as extending the wires goes, I won't be doing that. If I can't clear 16s with factory wiring, I'll have to get shorter bars cause with as many wires as I have in there, soldiering and shrink tubing the wires will make the harnesses too thick to feed into the bars. Even if I stagger my splices. I have four harnesses in each side, and on top of that I have to run an additional wire inside for the heated grips. Just not enough room.

Buddy of mine installed 14" Tbars on his DL-S without extending the wiring I believe, can't speak for 16" but I would think there would be plenty of extra wiring in the backbone to clear it...

You should have plenty of wiring. I have BK 12" risers and wide Big Als bars w/a 2 1/2" rise. And i stuffed alot of wiring back in the frame. Man..... Dont listen to that guy about cutting and soldering.... Theres plenty of quality extensions available out there.... No need to butcher up the oem harness....
