Default Exhaust Question - O2 Ports

Bought a new exhaust system (waiting on resolution of a couple of issues before I mention brand, I want to do a review on it eventually) and they provided me with a 12mm O2 port on the rear cylinder and an 18mm O2 port on the front cylinder. Of course my bike is 12mm on both.

I've had Rinharts once and I remember they both had to be adapted, included in kit, and therefore the O2 sensors were equally inserted into the exhaust stream.

My question is, if I adapt the 18 to 12mm and the other is not adapted, will that cause me issues tuning? I'm thinking not, but I wouldn't know until I actually installed and tried.

I'm in the process of negotiating with the seller to see what we can do. I may just return the thing and hope the replacement is correct.

O2 sensor is an O2 sensor...no matter what size, it should work. Didn't they include a 18mm to 12mm adapter? Also, IMO, install a wideband O2 sensor int he 18mm port (front) for better tuner control...Bosch is the way to go.

So I'm wondering about the placement of the sensor inside the exhaust stream. One will be inserted slightly further than the other.

They did not include the adapter in the kit. They shipped the wrong part, both should be 12mm.

Placement shouldn't matter unless it's wAy off or you have an exhaust leak in one side. Assuming you don't, you should have the same amount of oxygen where the Bung is now, to where it should be.

You can buy the adapter and...the O2 sensor should align in header fine...decent exhaust manufacturers ensure you have all the parts.

Legit concern - need to quantify slightly (to figure out if both in the pipe deep enough)

Bottom line - need the the sensors inserted enough into the pipe to get consistent sampling

Can always plug the 18 MM.., then install a 12 MM bung if it not enough

We all know people or businesses should do the right thing, not mess up, etc. But sometimes stuff happens, and although I'm bummed because I wanted to have this installed already, I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt and a chance to fix it.

The company has already agreed to replace one part that was defective without me having to go back through the dealer. So that is a good sign. And I'm willing to let the O2 port issue slide if there is 100% no chance of me having tuning issues.

From the pics I've seen, slightly further would be I'm guessing 1/16th to 1/8th inch. However thick the adapter is at the top.

I would just return it and go with another brand. They screwed up and it should be replaced without any questions. That's just bad business in my opinion.
