And I just love cruising the parking lots, especially parking decks, and setting off a trail of car alarms. Oh! And the A--Hole at the traffic light with his windows down and that Rap **** rattling the boot - he gets my full attention when I crank up the RPMs next to his ears.
And people wonder why noise laws are getting passed and enforced more and more everyday.
Yep,
BCTs sound terrific but they are freakin' loud! I pulled mine and went back to my old SEII baffles. While I live in a very 'bike law liberal' state, it's just a matter of time...
The officers responded to (they said several) calls, they can't issue a citation unless they actualy hear the noise, a good officer will in most cases give a virbal warning first, if called back will issue a written warning (fix it ticket) and the last,,,, the bike will be impounded and a trip to see the judge so I played it safe. These were new officers 2 yrs, new homes and people there did not like bikes. There were about 15 vehicles sounding off yeah not good
Anyway still looking for some goooooood sounding slip on's.
15 alarms set off? Man that must be a record for one day!
I have only set off afew alarms with mine and they were aftermarket alarms everytime. I usually go slow and try to keep it down when riding through neighborhoods.
My dealer recommends Rush slip ons. Said if you get the 2" baffle they will sound about the same as the old SEII slip ons. They also make a 1.75 & 1.5" baffle that will each be a little quieter. I will probably go this route but I might not get it done until next spring.
If your settting of that many alarms with Cycle Shacks you may as well stick with your SEII's. I had them on my bike and my V&H Short Shots are definitely, louder even with the baffles in.
Yeah Jay, it's a real upity hood (no farting, the noise and all yah know) all the pretty BMW's Caddy's and Toyota's lined up in the driveways each neighbor trying to out do the other. NOW they have installed a sign at the enterance that reads NO MOTORCYCLES ALLOWED. Now if I want to visit my friends I have to leave my bike at the pee-on parking lot 2 blocks away and walk or do the cager thing
Ain't happenN
Another vote for Rush slip-ons. They've got a nice low rumble with the 2' baffles. I've never set off an car alarms with mine. But I've never really tried to either. What's great about the Rush pipes is they have 5 different baffle options from 1.5" to 2.5." So you can quiet them down just enough without becoming invisible. In your case the 1.75" baffles might be the way to go.
Another set of slip-ons that might help your situation are the Peacemakers. I've seen them mentioned here a few times tho I've never seen any photos posted (aside from their web site). Their video promo is over-the-top corny which probably turns off most of their target customers. But the idea seems like it would solve the conflict between increasing noise ordinances and "loud pipes saves lives." Does anyone know of any dyno postings for the Peacemakers?
I put them on my 07 SG and that was the only place that I have ever been where I ever set off an alarm and I was in 2nd gear doing about 20mph, looking in my rear views all I could see were 4 ways flashing
