Had to replace my starter this weekend.. Got everything back together, tried to fire her up.. and nothing.. just the whirring of the starter not catching the clutch gear.. Note: this is NOT a guitar slide!

I didn't even think of re-using the jackshaft coupling! Details.. Lol! I had researched all day long reasons why it wouldn't catch, being a new starter and all. So I asked my husband "if the coupling was put on backwards, could that be the reason for it not catching?" I grabbed it off the old starter to show him what I was talking about.. he looked at it, and then at me and said almost laughing.. "Where did that come from?? I've never seen that until now.. That explains everything!!" I was so embarrassed.. Luckily he's patient understanding! When we installed the starter, we were "nascaring" it Sunday morning, trying to beat the heat. He was on the primary side, I was on the starter side, so he didn't see I missed it.. He said he thought it didn't feel right, but this was the first time installing a starter on a Harley, so... After pulling the starter off, installing the coupling, putting everything back together, & replacing the old battery the next day (not enough juice for it to turn over) she was up and running!! It was a very frustrating and sad weekend (not being able to ride). Laughing about it now... all part of the learning process! I guarantee that won't happen again!

Ive got too many to count!

First cam change, put the cam chest back together and forgot to install a gasket, thankfully when I got up thinking I was all done saw the gasket sitting right next to me!

Spending an hour and a half trying to get my handlebar wires out of my new bars when the lead I made using of mardi gras beads that had broken inside was a pretty scary and embarrassing time!

Of course there was also the time when I stubbornly refused to buy the proper fender braces (for a whopping $16), threaded on both ends so that I could easily install my Leather Pro bags. Instead I decided to tap my own threads into the mount only to have it snap off after the first two turns of the bolt... that was good fun.

Put a block under the kick stand to make it easier to clean the left side of the bike. Crouching in front of the bike while cleaning the front wheel I turned it to the right and the bike fell over. Caught it by the front brake lever which bent of course. Only scratched my VH Big shots. I was able to straighten the lever. Stupid f***. 3 years ago, still pissed at myself.

Snapped a primary cover bolt after pulling the primary to see why the previous owner had rtv around the drain plug area. Thought the outer primary cover could be cracked so I pulled it off and inspected it. Replaced the gasket and torqued the bolts back on, in sequence. However...I didn't have a hex socket for my in/lb torque wrench so I converted it to ft/lbs. Wrench never clicked but the bolt sure did. Got to do it all over again after running to the local dealer and picking up new bolts and another gasket. Also got a hex socket for my in/llb torque wrench. Damn primary weeps a little now....Must be why he had the rtv on there

Forgot to put the drain plug back in after an oil change. Proceeded to pour 2 quarts of Mobil-1 through my engine and straight onto the garage floor.

I was taking a picture of the bike on a gravel rode near a cow field. After I took the picture I got on the bike and my foot slipped on the gravel and the bike fell over on the exhaust side and scratched up my lower Cobra slip-on.

My first Harley, an '08 FXD, don't remember what I was doing, but I was sitting on it and went to get off. Jiffy stand wasn't fully extended due to me rolling a bit forward before leaning it over on the stand. Stand folded. I watched in slow motion as the world went clockwise... No idea why I didn't jump off? Hit the deck hard and heard that all too familiar "pop" of my left collarbone breaking.

Not fun.

Nor was picking the bike up with my right arm only and that break... No riding for the next 6 weeks. Again, not fun.
