Howard is fun to talk to. Sadly no Nix-22 for the Fat Bob. Didn't want to drop the bucks for the 30's, which sounded awesome, but it is a Harley. So racetech front end.

For now.
Have fun.
I believe the NIX-22 may fit into your forks. I have done so many FXDF forks but I did not save the check valves I cut out to measure against the FXDB which the forks are exactly the same length. If you send me your forks I can try them unless I get another FXDF fork in. The only concern I have is if the check valve is the same length. It does have the same ID however as I did check that previously.

Techbill, you should look into this. The NIX 22's are a big improvement over the already very good racetech emulators. If you can spend the dough, you won't be disappointed.

Are you running detachable bags and if so, will you need to turn the reservoirs so that they face forward?

I am not. I heard someone did that in another thread. I questioned whether that was acceptable, as the install manual specifies the reservoirs should be on the high side.

My bags are not detachable, and my shocks are ODC 13.5" piggybacks and not Ohlins, but they do fit with the bags and are oriented properly. For the shocks to be the most effective, the reservoir needs to be on top/highest location. Will it work the other way? Yes, but it is not going to work as well as when they are mounted as designed.

Not so. Except for the fact that the dirt is going down the shaft, through the scraper seal and bushings, when hung up side down when it gets wet, there is no difference. Your shocks are separated not emulsified. I do not in the least bit recommend putting shaft up for just that reason. Because the ressy is higher or lower makes no difference.

I didn't interpret the question as to completely flipping the shocks "upside down" but instead about putting the reservoir forward of the shock or to the rear of the shock. Placing it forward prevents interference with bags such as the ones on my bike.

Reservoir front or back is fine.

That's was the original comment/question I had. I had seen a member with his shocks mounted with the reservoirs on the lower side, I.e. Towards the front of the bike, and had questioned it. The Ohlins installation instructions said they should be the other way (reservoir on the aft side of the shock, thereby making it higher). I thought there was a reason for that, that's all.
