ok thanks so ican assume that for every inch taller i go i will need to add that much to my new cable length and i am asking this question because i know what assume can get me!!!!
I believe if you look at your cables, with the exception of the brake line which can be bent a little, you have roughly at least 1" up to 2" of slack, so depending on how much higher you want to go, you might not need to replace them inch of cable for inch of rise. But to be safe, certainly your assumption should work - only variable might be if you're thinking of more pull back distance in the bars. I only need to go up another inch or two vertical and am planning on just getting some new risers of no more than 4" (stock are 2") so I don't have the long install process and hassle/expense of changing over controls, lines, etc. And if that doesn't give me enough height (but I think it will), then I'll be looking at new bars. But that's just me!
And if you really don't want to have to worry about it - here's a company on eBay that figures it all out for you. You just tell them what you have and what you want and they do the rest and put together a whole kit for you - bars, cables, etc. Typical listing:
Very good find my man Chipstah !!!!! That's is just what I'm looking for in BLACK !!!! Do you or anyone know what size apes are on the stock 07 Bob???....I would figure 10 inch with a 2 inch riser???? Again great find plus you get the benefits of fat looking bars..
You should be able to get narrow glide 12's on w/o changing anything....i was able to get 13's on, only thing i had to do was bend the metal part of the brake line a bit!
