Got on my 06 WG yesterday and cranked her up to let her warm, while the OL was getting suited up. Bike was fine until the OL hopped on the back seat, then the twinkie started missing at idle! When I asked her to get off, the idle smoothed out again. It almost felt and sounded like it was running on one cylinder while she was on the bike with me. Once we were on the road, the engine smoothed out, and ran normal until we ran into any undulation in the pavement, where it would start to miss again until the road smoothed out.
Stock shocks are pre-loaded to #4 when we ride together, and I've never bottomed the rear wheel. I've pulled the plug wires and re-seated them. Thought it might be the PC III, but not sure, as the problem disappears when the OL gets off of the bike. Something has to be moving and shorting somewhere as the swing arm compresses and releases in the frame. Any hints as to what is going on, and what I should look for?
Ok seriously you can narrow it down to the wiring of the ignition or fuel if you have fuel injection. Look at the wiring diagram and then try to locate those components. Probably under the seat I would imagine based on your description of the problem. I would highly doubt the compression of the swing arm is to blame but more so the compression of the seat over the battery box area where you wiring resides. It will either be a loose connection or a cracked wire that momentarily loses contact or shorts.
