I've got a dent on the top of my tank, where my knee came onto it. (another story)
I was wondering if there was some way I could pull the dent out.
I'm thinking about trying a plunger??
Anybody have any ideas? The finish is black denim. I'm looking for something non-intrusive that doesn't involve removing the tank, or having to remove any paint from the tank.
where do you live?? an ol hail dent trick is to put the bike in the sun and let it get as hot as it can and then rub an ice cube on and around the dent, it should pop it out if is not a big dent. never actually done it but have heard many stories of this workin. see here in az the suns at least a million miles closer and burns your a*s quick so it would work best on a really hot sunner day. could try a lil propane torch but would have to be really carfull of the paint and i wouldnt recomend it. but i think its worth a try dont you?? easy enuf to see if it works and if not your tanks still lookin good......except so for the dent!!!
I just read something about using a hair dryer to heat it up and then cooling with some C02. The vid looked like it worked really well. The dent is ina bit ofa weird place and kinda extends under the console on the top of the tank. The denim paint has me a bit nervous too, but I think I may give it a try tomorrow
Don't know if gas in the tank would have any effect or not.
I have seen dents pulled by warming the area up with a blow dryer and then taking a can of air (like the ones to dust computers) hold it upside down and spray the dent until it ices up. Then as it gets back to room temp it pops.

As long as the dent is notoil canned - it could work.
I have a beat up tank I took to Dent Wiz - He wanted $200+ just to "see what he could do." I'll try dry ice, then weld stud / puller and bondo...
Good luck DD
