Default security fob question

My Dyna won't start, neither of my proximity security fobs are recognized but I can start the bike by entering the pin.
My fob batteries are 3 yrs old, is it common for both to fail simultaneously? I plan to go to Walmart to buy two #2032 batteries but am I missing something obvious?

I'd replace the batteries. It'll drive you nuts having to enter the code all the time.

You can get a two-pack of 2032 (or is ir 2025?) batteries for under $5. Treat yourself to a fresh set.

Oh, and don't store the Fob with the bike, the batteries will last longer, so I hear...

I change out my fob batteries every spring and carry a spare on the bike. Can't imagine they would last 3 years anyway.

It's recommended that the battery be be changed every 2 years.

also if your second fob isn't in use.. don't put a battery in it. It will drain the same rate as the one you use.

Here's a related story, We were over in Paso Robles, CA....At a motel and none of the bikes in the front parking lot would start, My Bike was in the back, So I rode around and turned it off, And then it would not start, So I got to thinking, And I pushed it just passed the front door of the Motel, It started right up, And so did all the bikes pushed past that point, Weird dead zone......Who knows....
