Default Help picking a Dyna

I am considering getting rid of the 17 RGU and down sizing to a Dyna

I have only owned and ridden Baggers, I even learned on a Road king lol

I have always loved Dynas and think it might be better suited for my current life style.

I ride fast , Hard and some days 1000miles

I am learning towards a 2002 Switch blade ad I love how rare they as well as the look.

Fat Bob or Super sport I read they have great handling and braking in comparison so some Dynas

Please chime in guys!

Get the Bob or WG. If not then get one that looks good to you.

This "handling" thing has been over emphasized if you ask me. For the type of riding that most of us do all the Dynas are about the same.

WG is short for FXDWG or Wide Glide.

1000 miles is damn long haul on a Dyna. Switchback might get it done but any of the others will need some comfort mods.

First off, I'm betting 1k a day is a bit of an exaggeration. And even if you did this, you are probably not doing it regularly. 1k a day (24 hours) would be 14 hours if you DIDN'T stop (at 70mph). Ever hear of the saddle sore challenge? Yeah not saying it can't be done, saying your probably not doing it regularly. If i'm wrong, and you are some crazy dude that does 1k 1 day trips every weekend stick with the bagger.

Second, "fast and hard" is relative. Are you riding your bagger at high speeds (say 90+) and are you scraping your floor boards on every turn (in the canyons)? Is your bagger limiting your riding ability?

Doing 90+ on a dyna for an extended period is not easy. You turn into a parachute. Fairing can fix this but i'm not sure if that is what your after (looks wise). Wind at this speed will also toss the bike around more vs a bagger (due to weight). Doing this on a Dyna is possible (trust me on this one ) but the bike needs to be setup for it and you need to be conditioned and ready.

In regards to the fat bob...better braking is true vs some other Dyna(s). This is due to the dual disc brakes. If you end up getting something with a single disc, you'll instantly notice a lack in braking power compared to your bagger. There are options to help with this, just something to keep in mind.

IMO...you want a dyna to ride fast and hard that can do it out of the box get a Low Rider S, FXDX, or something that someone else has put a bunch of money into. Otherwise, whatever you get you'll need to put money into suspension (at the very least).

Save for a dyna on the side

your bagger does exactly what you're looking for but the payoff is the weight that comes with it
I recommend looking into upgrading your suspension with premium components (not Harley's "premium " suspension)

Youd be suprised at how baggers respond with upgraded suspension that is if you use them to their fullest capability which not everyone does
