Yeah it is crazy here in my neck of the woods .... most dealers are asking top $ for their new FXDLS' if they have them and they aren't will to budge on price and used bikes aren't much cheaper.

tune definitely helps.

i had a bad tune on this second dyna 103 when i first got it. thing would heat up like an inferno, it melted the SAE usb that i had behind the engine. i flashed it back to stock an it cooled out.

I'm glad it's working for some. Good tuners are scarce in SoCal these days. I've never kept a bike stock, but My 103 RK never got fully sorted for heat. Several mods and tunes tried and no love. Great power, but just a cooker. The guys I know with the 110 Slim and 110 LRS all still comment on the heat, but they're all stuck in my area with the same tuner issue. Love both those bikes, but didn't want to go through the 103 headache again.

So I pulled the trigger ... ended up going with a new 2017 FXDLS for $17k OTD. I thought it was a pretty good deal considering the dealer had to locate one and trade an in stock 2018 to secure it for me. There were no new 2017 FXDLS' in a 100 mile radius from me. They will also be storing it for me for the winter.

The new 2017 was only $2k more than the 2016, and has 0 miles on it. I have a fresh canvas.

Thanks for all the advice and opinions along the way!

Thanks! I greatly appreciate it. I'm pretty excited to say the least, I've been without a bike since selling my FXDL 3 years ago ... and I've regretted it everyday since.

Thats not real unsual. When Ford announced the then current E350 van was going to be discontinued in favor of the new large transit model, I ran out and bought 2013 because I liked the old style and already had some modifications that would bolt right to the current body style such as a winch and ramps for my golf cart. No reflection on the new model van, just that I knew what my needs were and I don't feel like being the owner of a first year anything anymore.

Awesome, I think you'll be more than happy with it, I love mine. That $2k more bought a bigger engine, better suspension, aluminum wheels, cruise control, security system, stage 1 air intake and being a model that will remain highly desirable for the years to come.

Not sure about the heat issue though, course I don't spend much time sitting in traffic?

There is a topic going on about first modifications on an LR-S, might be worth checking out. Course I've ridden mine for over a year without really changing anything.

Audible alarm for it is well worth the money in my opinion.
