So, recently my dyna's speedo has been spazzing out. The engine light will come on, the speedo will stop working, the odometer will go off, and finally engine light will go off too. When i pull in the clutch it will go back to normal, until i start going again. I have recently replaced the stator. Any ideas?
thanks!
AJ
**Update, i found and cleaned the sensor. No change. I also found that it dies the same thing while in nuetral by just revving it. Could it still be the sensor?
If it was a carb issue it wouldn't trigger your speedo. If it was the temp sensor it wouldn't trigger your speedo. That leads me to believe it's your speed sensor or cam position sensor. Another stupid thing that produce similar results is if you spark plug wires are loose and not fully seated. They can become loose when you wash your bike. What would be helpful it to see what the code that your bike threw to turn on your check engine light.
Figure that out and you have your culprit.

Had a '99 Sportster do the same. The battery cable to the starter was corroded more than half through under the insulation, check those cables real good. Ground cables also.
*** So, update, I did finally replace the speed sensor, and there was no change to the issue. I found out how to get to the "Trouble Codes" on the bike last night, and I will be going through to try to figure out what's going on. I will also check those cables, and download the app. Thanks!! ***
