I was I a accident with my Sportster almost 3 weeks ago and it was totaled, I wound up with 6 stiches in my elbow a fractured pelvis, scapula and mildconcusion. Everthing is healing up good though. I bought a new Super Glide last week and pick it up this Saturday. Saleman was shocked that I was buying a new bike last soon, I showed upin showroom with arm in sling and a limp to look at new bikes ith my wife. I new I wanted a bigger bike than my Sportster, most of our riding is 2-up with friends who all had bigger bikes and I was tired of all the shifting I had to do to keep up. Even the wife agreed we needed a bigger bike, just with our son going to college this wall we have to be careful with our money and tha superglide seems to be a good fit. Got a good deal on the bike and a $500 gift card to use on parts. I am using the gift card to buy passenger foot peg kit, new sissy bar, grips. I am ordering a newMustang Seat like the one I had on my Sportster, so the bike will be set up for 2-up riding. I will have to wait till next spring after I get my tax return to get some VH pipes AC kit and a fuel pack. The only thing that concerns me is the Mid controls, my Sportster had foward controls and I liked them, My friend has a Street Bob and put foward controls on his andit cost over $600, 300 parts and 300 labor. There is no way I can do that right now with all the other money I have spent to get set up for 2-up riding. I was wondering about putting highway pegs on for now to get by what do you think? Sorry for long post.
Congrats on the new bike. Sorry to hear about your Sportster. Once you get put back together, it should be fun getting your new bike ready. Highway mounts are about $50.00 on Ebay. Use some foot pegs off your sportster and your done. Good luck.
I just put the highway pegs from DRAG SPECIALTIES on my 07 FXDC, got em on ebay for less than $50, they mount right up and was on the bike in less than 30 minutes. I love them for the long rides, I was raised on the mid controls and this gives me the best of both worlds
Glad to see you ended up ok and willing to jump right back in!
Forwards from Harley will run you about 300 bucks and they are easy to put on. Get a six pack and the service manual and you'll do fine. I haven't paid a cent in labor on my SG yet, and don't plan on it anytime soon.
If you want to do highway pegs for now I got an almost brand new set of Harley adjustables I will sell you on the cheap. Let me know if your interested.
