Default Progressive 444 Shocks anyone?

Hey everyone. I'm thinking about buying the Heavy Duty 12" Progressive 444 shocks to replace the stock shocks on my 2017 Harley Dyna Street Bob. Just wondering if anyone has experience with them or if I should chose a different size/type.

I'm around 230lbs, sometimes carry luggage and sometimes double-up.

I'm using them on my '14 Fat Bob, 13". I weigh about 170 and 5'9", ride fairly aggressively on 2 lane roads 90% of the time. I also put Progressive fork springs in it and I've been very happy with how it rides.

Do you know the length of the stock shocks? I believe they are 12" so I'd like the same height without having to do any further mods.

Also do you think heavy duty is the better decision based on my weights above?

Single no luggage = 230lbs
Double with luggage = 400ish lbs

I would recommend you to consider at least 12,5”. Will increase the handling. The stock 12” height is too low. The downside of upgrading the rear shocks is that you will feel how bad the front forks are, so be aware to use more money.

Here's a couple links to some good info on suspension after extensive testing-

Front Suspension Testing Info

Rear Suspension Testing Info

In that second link, you'll see this chart-

Hope this helps!

If you go too low, you may need to mod your kickstand. Sorry, jiffystand...

I have a set on my FXDL, went with 12.5" (1/2 longer than stock) am happy with them, no more muffler dragging, are a good improvement over stock at a reasonable price.

I run the progressive 444 on my wide glide and on my fxr also. I went with 1/2 inch taller 12.5 on the wide glide. The fxr is a super glide so stock shock is 13 inch so I went with 13’s plenty of lean angle. All and all I think the 444 is a good shock.

12.5 imo is the best compromise between looks and performance. Low enough without a fender gap, tall enough to give you that extra edge on twisties.
