Default Starter Issue 07 FXD

I've had this starter not fully engage three times now in 4 months. Is there something that I am doing wrong to cause this? It sounds just like an engine that is started and cranked up up again. I think we know what this sounds like..... SH**!!!! Is there a way for me totest the solenoid on the starter, to see if it is going out? The dealer wants to keep the bike for a couple of days, but I need it to get to work everyday.[:@]

It could be the solenoid from your description, but it's under warrenty right? Think you have to leave it with the stealer.

Yes, it is under warrenty. I was just wandering if there was a test they can do to see if there is a problem, rather than wait for it to happen again? I really dont want to get stuck somewhere; have anyof you guysever tried to jump-start an 07?

If it's the solenoid or starter motor, jumping it won't help. And they probably won't replace it unless they can verify the complaint. That's why they told you to leave it a few days.

I would take it in and just have it fixed. You could always bump-start it but thats a Pain in the **** with these heavy bikes....unless you have a hill near you.

Default UPDATE ON :Starter Issue 07 FXD

[sm=rant.gif]My starter died this weekend for good. I have many more details coming on this topic, including an audio recording of the dealer trying to BS me into buying a $2800 one year warranty, in addition the two years that I already have, so he can fix my current issue!!!! I cant believe this Sh*t guys. I have been in contact with the BBB, as well as the State of Texas. I go in to get my starter fixed on a bike that has 1500 miles on it (2007 FXDC) and they say it will be two weeks at the earliest and it might be covered under warranty. I wish I could express how I really felt in this post[sm=shootshoot.gif]. All i can say is that heads are going to roll before I pay them a dollar. I will be uploading links with documentation of what has taken place in this nightmare as well as the name of the dealership here in Austin. [:@]
