Default Flanders Cafe Bars

I just mocked up my new Flanders C5 Cafe bar, and I think I'm really going to like it (I first heard of this bar from nemosengineer, and his input seemed right on). I realize this may be weird to all you T bar people, but I really wanted my hands to be slightly lower and slightly further forward than the stock FXDX bar.

My upper brake line, throttle cables, and clutch cable are all slightly long now, which I expected. My brake lines are custom from Spiegler, and I'm very comfortable measuring for length by running rubber tubing along it's path. But I've never measured for custom cable lengths before. I was planning on doing it basically the same way, but suggestions are welcome. For example, when measuring for the clutch cable, how much adjustment room should I plan for? I thought of just measuring "relative" length and ordering something "3 under" or whatever it ends up, but it seems more accurate to specify the actual length.

I like Barnett's "Stealth" series, which is what my current throttle cables are. I thought I would order them again, along with a matching clutch cable.

Here are the stock bars from the front:

And the Flanders bar:

I thought I would want to take a little bit off of each end, but it actually seems comfortable as is. I'll ride it a bit before deciding. So far, I really like it!

I am super impressed with cost and quality of Flanders throttle cables. I went the DIY route and the cost was less than $20, iirc. They also sell assemblies. Quality is as good or better than OEM. Once finished, they look the same as OEM.

Unfortunately, they do NOT offer a transmission end fitting for the clutch.

Magnum has a DIY clutch cable. I haven't tried it yet, but it's probably what I'll end up with.

Looks good! I like it quite a bit better myself.

I've also thought of trying to shorten my existing throttle cables, as they're maybe a year old and I like them... In fact they're exactly what I want, with completely blacked out fittings and so forth...

Anyone ever try shortening existing cables?
